National Plug In Day - benefits of plug-in electric vehicles

 National Plug In Day, taking place on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011 (Note: it's Friday in Knoxville), is an unprecedented nationwide observance drawing global attention to the environmental, economic and other benefits of plug-in electric vehicles through simultaneous events staged in at least one dozen major cities nationwide.

About the Event:

East Tennessee Clean Fuels Coalition will be hosting a National Plug-In Day event in Knoxville. The event will take place at Market Square, Electric cars will be on display around the square and on a side street so that passersby can get an up-close view of electric vehicles and their inner workings. Attendees will be able to get answers to their most pressing EV questions.  ETCleanFuels believes that this event will really show a strong EV presence in East Tennessee!

Solar Trains Planes

 

On Saturday, Oct. 1, the Cumberland Solar Energy Association is organizing open house tours of over seven homes and businesses in the greater Crossville area.  The tour will start at 10 a.m. with a meeting at the Tennessee Technology Center of Crossville (on Miller Ave) for a short presentation, then attendants will be able to drive around to visit the local solar sites from 11 a.m. through 3 p.m.

The Crossville Model Railroad Club is celebrating 10 years of existence with an anniversary event Oct. 1 at the Mall. Scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., there will be a live radio broadcast, hourly prize drawings

City of Crossville Airport Open House and Fly-In, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission to the 2011 Airport Open House and Fly-In is free.

Oktoberfest Crossville, TN

 

  The Oktoberfest is held the second Friday and Saturday in October each year.     The first two years the Oktoberfest was held in the Armory in Crossville.  Since then the event as been held at the Knight's property on Highway 70 three mile east of downtown.   When it was first held there, the festival was held totally inside temporary tents.  Over the years, permanent building have been constructed.  Even now, temporary tents are brought in to supplement the space of the permanant buildings.
